Manchester airport hotels reviewed

There are several Manchester airport hotels if an overnight is required. The Bewley Hotel and The Crown Plaza are 2 that are just 5 minutes walk from either terminals 1 or 3.

Bewleys Hotel rooms cost 79 ($160) regardless of the day of the week. It is classed as a 3 star but probably just about deserves a 3.5 thanks to the fact they have just had wireless fitted which comes included in the price.

The rooms are nice enough and if you are looking for manchester airport hotels than chances are you just need somewhere to get your head down while you await your connecting flight and you will find Bewleys hotel ideally suited for just that purpose.

You will find reasonably priced food in the dining area as well as bar and an ATM. A nice touch was the receptionist asking what time my flight was in the morning and then receiving an early morning call making sure I was up and reminding me how long before my flight check in was open. Having showered and gone down to check out of The Bewley, I was then offered a complimentary shuttle service to the departures.

Several Manchester airport hotels, not suprisingly, cater for the business traveler. The one I checked in to review was The Crown Plaza. Situated next door to The Bewley, The Crown Plaza cost me 135 ($270) with breakfast included. It is classed a 4 star and I would say just about makes the grade. Room service, although on the expensive side, was available throughout the night. The TV comes with an entertainment system such as playstation games, movies etc. but all were charged to your credit card.

They offer a shuttle service although you should check as it depends on the security level the UK is currently on as to wether you can be dropped off at the terminal entrance due to the attempted suicide bombing at Glasgow airport. As the Crown Plaza and The Bewley are only five minutes walk away, this is not a problem. There was no ATM within the hotel although they did offer internet connection through a LAN free of charge.

For short business trips from the airport such as Manchester Gatwick, Manchester Isle of Man etc. The Crown Plaza offers airport car parking at 15 ($30) a day. This was the cheapest I saw on offer during my time at the airport.

Both the Bewley and the Crown Plaza were staffed with pleasant, well trained people. The Bewley offered an early morning call where as the Crown Plaza didn't unless asked for but that is being rather picky. Having stayed in both during July 2007 I would not have a problem recommending either of these 2 Manchester airport hotels. If you are on your way to a vacation destination, try the Bewley first as it offers good value for money. If you are on a business trip and its on expenses, then the Crown Plaza offers that extra bit of luxury.
